Like a conductor melding life's philosophies into jazz, Raman draws from a career diverse as a painter's palette. From Physics to a Cinematography degree, his journey began at St. Stephens College and culminated at the Film and TV Institute of India in '95. He delved into documentaries until '04, birthing 'The Great Indian Butterfly' after a quick fifteen-day dash—three years to unfurl. '07 unveiled 'Frozen,' disrupting familial peace amidst Himalayan chaos, earning accolades at the Indian National Awards and Durban International Film Festival in stark black and white. '10 showcased his talents in 'Harud' (Autumn)—shooting, co-writing, co-producing—premiering at TIFF and lauded at Fribourg International Film Festival and the Indian National Awards. His journey expanded with works like "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" (2011), Mira Nair's "God Room" (2014), and features like 'Handmade in India,' 'Rocky Handsome' (2016), 'Mukkabaz' (2017), 'Lal Kaptaan' (2019). In 2019, he ventured back into Kashmir's turmoil with "Maagh (The Winter Within)," earning accolades at Busan and the Festival of Three Continents at Nantes. A polymath, honored at the Berlinale Talent Campus and the Locarno International Film Festival. '16 birthed 'Gurgaon,' acclaimed in Hindi Cinema, and 'Leila' in '18 added Netflix's dystopian drama. By 2022, his second creation “Love Hostel” released—a collaboration between Red Chillies Entertainment and Drishyam Films. Raman is presently developing a psychological thriller series for Sony Liv which will be filmed in 2024.
